June kicked off with a cultural feast – the play Out of Order at Och Teatr. We’ll definitely be visiting Och Teatr again, because the auditorium reminds me of a modern concert stage with a central layout. It gives more spectators direct access to the performing actors.
Out of Order is a story about how one dead body, one mistress, and a few politicians can effectively complicate a totally ordinary evening.
It all starts innocently enough. A minister, instead of dealing with important state matters, decides to deal with… matters of a decidedly more private nature. There’s a mistress, a hotel, a wife, a jealous husband, a dead body, and of course, a window. The only thing missing is an investigative commission.
And then a real rollercoaster begins: doors open, doors close, someone comes in, someone goes out, someone saw something, someone didn’t see something, and the minister does everything he can so that no one finds out what pretty much everyone already knows.
A lot of confusion, a lot of absurdity, great pacing, and quite a few situations that seem impossible to get out of. And then it turns out you can. You just have to lie a few more times.
And perhaps the most important takeaway: you walk out of the theater convinced that our native political scene isn’t actually all that absurd. It just has a less well-written script.
Birthday Dinner at Kercelak
At the beginning of the month, Tomek celebrated his 18th birthday yet again. To mark the occasion, we went for a birthday dinner to Kercelak – a Bar for Everyone, which is close to our office and serves delicious food.
A Wedding in Zabiele and the Return Trip
In June, we also attended a wedding in Zabiele. Unfortunately, the lack of available rooms at the inn made it impossible for me to show off my dance moves (which require a special liquid with the chemical formula C2H5OH). Even so, I tried to move around a bit. We were planning to surprise Marta, but after a quick phone call, it turned out they were heading out, so we just drove straight home.
BBQ in Pruszkow and Yoga Day in Podkowa
Towards the end of the month, we got together for a barbecue in Pruszkow, and we also took part in Yoga Day in Podkowa Lesna. I might not be a yogi, but I’m always happy to drop by when Ania invites me.
