May started with my sister’s visit for a name-day-birthday-May-weekend BBQ . While she was here, I showed her how pretty the neighborhood is and that living in the country has its perks.
Family Celebrations
During that same long weekend, we attended my uncle’s 55th wedding anniversary. We were supposed to go to Prague in Czechia then, but Prague isn’t going anywhere, and the anniversary definitely would :-). For this occasion, I prepared a special certificate, which I gave them in a nice gold frame.
Ursus Library
I was invited to the 50th anniversary of the Ursus Library branch in Niedźwiadek, which I’ve been using since I learned to read :-). Later on, I had the honor and pleasure of bringing it from the paper card era into the computer age when it came to reader services. I got a very nice thank-you gift, though it still bugs me why the bear celebrating a 50th anniversary in May is wearing ice skates and a scarf. But hey, I don’t know the first thing about fashion 😛
Long Weekend at the Seaside
May was kind enough to give us two long weekends. We spent the second one, which gently spilled over into June, at the seaside—specifically in Kąty Rybackie (and the surrounding area). The drive was terrible because it seemed like all of Warsaw was heading to the sea, but once we got there, it was wonderful. I, as always, got my tan in the shade, we ate delicious fish, and drank cold beer. Only the drive back was with all of Warsaw again 😛
