Budapest is a city that consists of two parts – Buda and Pest. Relax, no one is making you take an exam on this. Just remember that one side is more hilly, and the other is more for partying. You can tell from this city that it wasn’t destroyed during the war like Warsaw. It has beautiful monuments. On top of that, it’s the headquarters of Wizzair, which is pretty obvious at the airport.
Buda Castle and a walk around Castle Hill. The views? A fairytale. Photos? At least fifty. You’ll post three, the rest will stay ‘for the memories.’ Fisherman’s Bastion looks like it’s straight out of a Disney movie, although fishermen probably never actually fished here. It’s the perfect place to pretend you’re a medieval ruler or a travel influencer. Matthias Church is beautiful on the outside, probably even more beautiful on the inside. And the roof looks like someone won a contest for the world’s prettiest roof tiles.
Parliament is one of the most beautiful buildings in Europe. It made a huge impression on both me and Jola. Even people who usually give politics a wide berth take hundreds of photos here. Heroes’ Square and City Park are the perfect place to rest. If you happen to snag a bench in the shade, don’t give it up too quickly – it’s a local treasure.
The Great Market Hall, where you can purchase souvenirs, buy paprika, salami, sweets, or something you can’t name but looks delicious. It’s the best way to bring a piece of Hungary back home.
It’s cool that tram line 2 exists, acting sort of like a cruise along the Danube. You can sit comfortably in it and admire the city panorama. In the evening, Budapest lights up so beautifully that your phone camera really starts trying.
Budapest is a city that can amaze you with its architecture, history, food, and atmosphere.
