Adam i Paulina 11 10 2025 – Smrock-Dwór

This post is going to start with a flashback from my and Adam’s lives exactly 15 years and 9 days ago — we were both at a different party 😛 at my wedding reception. Now it’s Adam’s wedding, the tables have turned and I was the one having a blast (spoiler alert: it was great) at His reception. But even back then Adam, or rather still little Adaś :P, under the watchful eye of his Dad, was learning the theory from Jacek on… how to: properly drink moonshine :P, have fun in the company of beautiful ladies, and how to survive being surrounded by just the guys.

Next, a quick relocation to the wedding hall. I just hope the newlyweds’ car had sauna-like temperatures inside, because with that amount of well-wishing, the Bride could have frozen to death (but hey, you don’t wear a wedding dress once in a lifetime just to cover it up with a jacket).

A magical place with a magical name

It all started in a magical place with a name that sounds like a spell from Harry Potter:🪄 Bobrowy Dwór in Smrock-Dwór. Right from the entrance you could tell the crew were professionals. They even know how to show a Sunday driver on a Saturday night where to park so the parking lot stays orderly.
We took advantage of the fact that we arrived before the newlyweds and did a quick check-in. It turned out our room… to say it was big is like saying the ocean is “a bit wet”. It had the square footage of half the Vatican, and for a moment I wondered if the wedding reception was going to be held in our room :P. There was so much space I could hit my daily step limit just by walking to the bathroom and back.

The wedding hall? It was decorated so beautifully that I felt like I was on the set of a movie that must have cost millions. Every detail was perfected, and the flowers and lights created an atmosphere where even the most hardened cynic would start believing in unicorns. The dance floor – the size of a helipad, which easily fit all the guests at once without feeling crowded.

At our table, which – the horror! – was number 13, the atmosphere was so hot that even superstitions melted away in shame. Laughter and anecdotes flowed more freely than the stream of vodka. It turned out 13 was our lucky number, especially when you’re surrounded by such fantastic people.

A symphony of flavors on a plate

When it came to the food, it wasn’t just food… it was a symphony of flavors, a culinary opera, a ballet for the palate. My taste buds sent a thank-you telegram, and my stomach made a pact with the chef, promising undying loyalty.

And the vodka. Ah, the vodka! Every sip was a crash course in cryogenics, after which I felt… perfectly defrosted from the inside. It was so cold that ice cubes were asking for a blanket. Perfect for thawing out even the stiffest family relationships and making even Groot bust a move on the dance floor like a cross between Swayze and Travolta.

Speaking of music, the band played in such a way that legs were itching to dance all on their own, even the ones that swore they had been retired for years. They played with so much energy and heart that even the chairs seemed to sway to the rhythm.

Cake and midnight miracles

The cake was served outside, surrounded by sparklers held by the wedding guests, lighting up the night like thousands of shooting stars, and… a massive amount of smoke-filled soap bubbles! It looked like a UFO had landed at the party and started chucking smoking balloons.

The party lasted until the early morning. Jola and I stayed until the very end, but then again, our beds were close by.

And the cherry on top of the memories – seeing rarely seen family. Cousins, aunts, uncles… all in good health and shape, which is a reason to celebrate in and of itself.

It wasn’t until Sunday morning… okay, noon, that Jola and I saw what beautiful natural surroundings we were in. The manor looked like a postcard that no one dared to send for fear its beauty would break the recipient’s heart. The greenery was so lush I was afraid I’d hear Cejrowski’s voice narrating my presence. The water in the pond or river (I still haven’t figured out which it was) made a huge impression.

To sum up, this wedding wasn’t just a party. It was the event of the century (or at least this quarter-century), a masterclass in the art of celebrating, a feast for the senses and the soul. Bobrowy Dwór, its charm, the food, the music, and above all, the people – created a memory that I will look back on for a long time.
