Karpacz 2010

Karpacz 2010 – Karpacz

As if we didn’t have enough winter, we went skiing in Karpacz. A beautiful town with well-groomed trails. I finally rented ski boots that didn’t pinch or hurt anywhere, so I could actually focus on skiing. After dark, we scoured all the local pubs looking for the best pork knuckle 🙂 or indulged in winter activities other than skiing, like slalom snow tubing or ice skating (though it’s not that pleasant on an artificial rink). Taking advantage of the fact that the biggest hotel in Karpacz was being built by, among others, my cousin, one evening we got mercilessly wasted in our apartment. Right, we stayed in an apartment. A garage, cable TV, and a beautiful view from the window are a nice thing, and when you travel in a larger group, it doesn’t turn out expensive at all.

When the weather in Karpacz was lousy and Śnieżka was closed, we went to the Czech Republic. There, in the town of Mladé Buky, we indulged in some winter madness at their local SKIPARK. This is where I happened to miss the turn for the intermediate trail and started going down the difficult one. I’d love to see a recording of my face the moment I reached such a speed that if I spread my arms, I would have turned into Adam Małysz and soared like an eagle. It ended with a fall and a strained knee. The old saying “it’ll heal before the wedding” didn’t hold true this time…
