Another trip to Krynica Górska was supposed to be a quiet winter getaway. The plan was simple: skiing in the morning, relaxing in the evening, and an elegant party on New Year’s Eve. Reality, as usual, decided to write its own script. Already on the first day, it turned out that gravity in the mountains works exceptionally well, and a year of rest was not enough for my knees. Some glided gracefully down the slopes like Olympians. Others tested the hardness of the snow with such dedication you’d think they were conducting scientific research. Before New Year’s Eve arrived, by way of recovery, we went on a horse-drawn sleigh ride that ended with a feast by the campfire.
The culmination of the trip was, of course, the New Year’s Eve party. In a matter of hours, ski suits turned into elegant outfits. People who could barely walk down the stairs in the morning surprised everyone on the dance floor in the evening. It’s hard to say whether it was the magic of New Year’s Eve, the good music, or perhaps the power of the regional delicacies.
At midnight, champagne corks popped and fireworks lit up the sky. One wish dominated among all the others: “May the new year bring fewer bruises and more successful runs!” A moment later, it turned out that dancing after several hours of partying requires just as much stamina as skiing. One thing is certain – a trip like this leaves you not only with sore muscles but, above all, with plenty of memories and stories that get even funnier every time they’re told.
