This time our trio headed to Bukowina; Łukasz joined me and Tomek. Since the train was coming from Gdansk, there were no seats left by the time it reached Warsaw. At first, we traveled in “lying down in the aisle” spots, but later it emptied out a bit, and we eventually made it to Zakopane in a seated position. From the bus stop where we got off in Bukowina to the Melon guesthouse (what else?), it was uphill the whole way. By the time we got there, we were so exhausted that two-thirds of the crew decided, ‘Oh well… we’ll just drink the more expensive alcohol bought in Poland. We’re not going back down to the stop and then climbing back up with all that extra weight.’ After a few motivational attempts, plus a round of insults reaching generations back, Tomek set off alone. But we’re not the kind of guys to let him get alcohol poisoning. We helped him empty the bottles.
The next day we headed to Gubałówka; we took the funicular up and walked back down on foot.
